The AFRican

With over 110,000 readers, The AFRican is the premier, quarterly lifestyle magazine for Africans in the diaspora. Launched in 2001, this New York-based publication showcases the latest in film, fashion, politics, news, business, music, and art helmed and created by cosmopolitan Africans living in the US and Europe. A magazine for the sophisticated urbanite, The AFRican provides critical commentary and political analyses for the intellectual, a spotlight on the cutting edge cultural scene for the social butterfly, and the latest in fashion and design for the style seeker.

Our readers are Africans and friends of Africa. For some the journey to America happened more than 400 years ago, others are recent immigrants from the continent or the islands. Our readers are you. Subscribe to The AFRican and join a network of Africans bringing our voices, our vision, our culture to the world.

(Publication of the Print version of The AFRican has been suspended. The AFRican will be back in print in the fall of 2009.)

We have been and still are on a journey that is energized by the dreams and aspirations of Africans. The AFRican has largely been a volunteer effort. It has been the product of Africans and lovers of Africa putting their sweat, energy, talent and resources together for common good. The names of those who have participated in this journey are numerous. We would not be here today without the late Nya Joy Payton.

Equally, the following people have given us their energy in so many ways: Numbisi Loweh Nkweti, Olayinka Fadahunsi, Cynthia Nakpodia, Abimbola Ishola, Ngwah-Mbo Nana Nkweti, Tanya Serdiuk, Segun Oguntola, Bola Ansa, Chuma Oguagha, Ola Olayinka, Dowoti Desir, Amaris Moss, Arlene James, Sherine L.
